-A sample from the Queen-
“Then I will leave you to your plans.” he nodded, “When you need me I will be there.” He turned her to face him.
“You will tell no one he is here.” she commanded. Samuel was good at finding ways around her rules and it had led them into more than one mess. Telling Darius' enemies where to find him would remove Darius, and another enemy.
“You will make a great Queen.” he laughed. “I will tell no one, but next time I want in on the fun.” he wagged his eyebrows, leading them farther away.
“The last time you said you 'had fun' I had 2 clubs burnt to the ground.” she responded sourly, smirking. Samuel's idea of a good time had meant years rebuilding her life. Trouble, with a capital T, followed him.
“That was not my fault. They thought we were witches.” he roared “Do I look like a warlock to you?” his eyes black as he yanked them to a halt. His pale horns still turned back hidden in the tangle of his tousled dark hair.
“No, Samuel you look like a Demon, the true King.” She placated turning him to walk again.
“Now you are just politicking.” He grumbled, “You just want me on your side of this war.”
“Who said there will be a war?” her delicate golden brow rose. This was an ongoing battle. She planned to remove control from those who abused it and give their species a chance to flourish. Being a monarch himself Samuel thought she should rule the kingdom. And then administer to those she worried so about. That had never been her plan.
“He will not give up the kingdom without a fight.” he stated in all seriousness.
“But I will change that.” She stopped to face him and convince both of them. The Vampire Court had destroyed too many existences to be allowed to continue as they had. Once the Council and the Vampire Court had been cleansed of their corruptions Lilith would be satisfied.
“And I know he will never win unless you let him, love. Don't act all uptight. I could smell you all over him. You may not have to fight to be Queen. But you will have to fight to change your Kingdom.” he touched her nose gently. “Still don't want to be my Queen.” he pulled her into his arms and brush her soft lips with his.
“Samuel-” she started outraged.
He used that moment to slip his tongue into her mouth and brush against her sharp fangs. He stroked her back and pulled her closer. He tasted her just for an instance as she pulled slowly away. She shook her head.
“We could rule both kingdoms.”
“You know it will never work for us.” she laugh brushing her hair off her face as a breeze blew the golden strands around her. “Why now? Why this?” she waved between them.
“Why let him think he can have anything he wants? And he wants you. And when he smells you next my scent will be the one wrapped around you.” he eye brows jumped roguishly over his black eyes. “I want to give him something to think about, about you and me together.” he pulled her back into his arms and rubbed against her shoving his large hands into her hair.
“I want to give him a lot to think about.” he concluded roughly, and crushed her mouth with his letting his passion rule and his scent cloud over her. He pulled back to glaze into her angry eyes. His eyes sparkled and his horns elongated with his passion. “I know you are not mine. But not because I did not want you.” he concluded touching her slightly parted lips one last time with his, slowing his breathing purposely. “I am sure I will find someone here to keep me entertained. You must close your delicious mouth before I decide to give the Vampire King a run for his money.” he laughed.
“Samuel, you know-” she began backpedaling fiercely, enervated. He was one of her only friends, he could not ruin that. It was not to be tolerated. Animosity rose within her...
“I know. I just wanted you to understand. Go. Bring him to his knees.” he concluded, before turning and walking away. “Do ask his guard where the Royal Guards are? Even I don't travel that light.” he continued laughing, almost rubbing his hands in anticipation.
