Mr. Right and the Haunted House
The four-foot Christmas tree standing on the side table near the window should have eased the gloom in the room, but it didn’t. Instead, the battery-operated blinking lights increased the wild shadows on the heavy brocade drapes and intensified the stark stone of the wall behind, and its false cheer made anything beyond its light, including me, seem more forlorn and dead.

Dragon Fire
Declan Black beat his wings against the night sky, as a barrage of gunshots screamed from below.

“Faster, Tallon!” He shouted to the female dragon in front of him, seconds before bullets tattered the scales of his left wing. A hot spike of pain lanced between his shoulder blades. Slipping in his ascent, he paused to grab a breath.

Shades of Grace
In the dining room of the Live Oak Country Club, Aaron Robertson enjoyed his iced tea and waited for his daughter. Good thing he’d drilled punctuality into her; he wouldn’t have much longer to wait. Judith had turned out to be the kind of daughter any father would be proud of. She was intelligent and attractive in a quiet sort of way. Yes, Judith’s life was unfurling just as he’d hoped.

Across Time
Near Bath, England

Isabel Church had finally come home. After years of dreaming, of clipping pictures of castles and people dressed in tweed from magazines, she’d arrived. She’d never been to England, yet the rolling green hills and misty weather seemed as familiar to her as the cows and farmlands back in the Midwest where she’d grown up.

Taming the Rogue
4th April 1758, Richmond Park, London

The gold and pink striped dawn rippled across the narrow blade slashing through the air in fine precision. The wrist turned sharply into a Cart, feinting into a Ters then back into a Cart.

Thrust. Parr. Lunge. The sword flowed with the ease and grace of a true master.

"I suppose, old man, there isn’t a way to make you see reason and bow out?" Denton, the Marquis of Huntley, casually queried of his rapier-wielding friend.

Web of Deceit
Only eight days had passed since Jenna Callaway and her husband signed the lease which marked the beginning of her new life. Somehow it seemed appropriate she’d be the first one driving the back roads through southern Maine to the little cottage they’d rented. It had been a long time since Jenna felt any true joy in her life. Not that today made her happy, just satisfied she’d finally made a decision on her own.

The bar was sweltering and the dancing sweaty. Especially since I was squeezed between two hotties and my best friend, Jenna, as we danced like wild monkeys.

I'll Be Watching You
The moment Faith McKenzie stopped the car in front of the house she realized she’d made a dreadful mistake.
In truth she’d made several starting with what she prayed wouldn’t prove to be the biggest of all...being out all alone after dark. But then she hadn’t exactly planned on being gone more than a few hours when she’d left the house in a hurry after receiving the first call in weeks from an ‘unknown caller’ id.

The Seal and the Sea Nymph
Lieutenant Byron Burke cupped his hat over his heart and knelt before a cluster of simple headstones. Resting a well-muscled arm on his knee, he bowed his tawny head in prayer for the only family he’d ever known. “I’d be nothing if not for you,” he rasped. "Nothing."

Living Canvas
There was something familiar about the painting - of course Audrey knew that when she bought it. The long she stared at the summer landscape, its sun shafts casting long shadows of trees on the ground before her, the more she felt that she was standing in the meadow. A warm breeze caressed her face, the scent of pine needles and water weeds tingled in her nose. The rustle of leaves overhead whispered a welcome. Was it just memories, or had she become part of the painting? Audrey took a step and felt warm earth between her bare toes, punctuated by cool patches of grass on the soles of her feet.
