Mari Carr
Some people fall apart on their 30th birthday, others on their 40th. For Mari Carr, 34 was the year that took her down. After spending the day crying and saying, “I haven’t done anything I thought I would,” her husband finally asked what was left undone. Her answer was simple—she hadn’t written a book or decorated her house. “So do it,” he said.

Shannon Dauphin
I'm a writer who has been in the publishing game for more than a decade. When I'm not writing, I love to cook, explore antique stores, and travel to wherever the mood strikes. I'm happily married to one of those guys you hear on your radio every day -- he also moonlights as a journalist, which makes for interesting conversation around the dinner table. We reside with a handful of beloved, spoiled children in our historic home near Nashville, Tennessee. My latest novel, Carolina Hurricane, will arrive at a bookstore near you in the Summer of 2008.

Renee Knowles
Once upon a time there was a little girl who wanted to be a writer. Of course, Renee wanted to be a professional ice dancer, an Olympic gymnast, and a fashion model too. But once she learned she had no athletic aptitude and wasn't going to be six-foot tall and stick thin, her love for writing and books grew. She read anywhere and everywhere she could—including during class (especially math and science). Uh, not so good for school, but it encouraged her passion for books, opening her up to some of her favorite authors, including her all-time fave Jane Austen.

Sherry James
A native Nebraskan, Sherry James spent her youth riding and writing, and all of those hours on the back of a horse gave her plenty of time to think up a slew of stories. The first book she wrote (at the tender age of 9) was three chapters long, with each chapter only being one page long, and was written from the point of view of a horse. Hmm. Imagine that!
